Every year I write out my resolutions and travel is always one of the ones that comes up over and over again. For good reason too- it’s one of my most favourite things to do.
If I had all the money and time in the world, I’d spend it travelling, meeting and probably (medically) helping people throughout. While that may sound all noble, in reality, I rarely get the time to leave the perimeter of my apartment and work. Or so I thought…
This was the first year I managed to travel most months!
Something extra-ordinary happened in 2018: this was the first year I manager to travel most months! Finally, I was at least getting the “travel” part sorted. Here are some snap shots from along the way…
January

MBS. With laser beeeems
Started the year in Singapore

Made it to Bright, Victoria during a heatwave
More water fun in Bright.
And of course, explored Melbourne
February & March
Feb & March were spent mostly exploring the local attractions in Melbourne. With WhiteNight, NGV Triennial, my birthday and so on, there was plenty to keep me busy and exploring right here!

NGV windows look a bit like abstract paintings
A window into Yayoi’s work
Mortality much?
WhiteNight begins
We seem to have found an explorer
Alien’s have landed?
The sparkle of the city
Droning around town…

Streets of NYC
One day, you will be mine, Model 3!
May
May looked like it was going to provide a bit of a breather… or not. A random trip to Japan ensued…

Finally went on the Melbourne Star
And heard the Federation Bells
And ..ended up in Japan…
More Japan

At the half way point, the travel wasn’t slowing down. I ended up in Brisbane for the weekend!

Went up the Eureka (many times)
Docklands looks like a glowworm hive
Ahh the many views of the city
Oh hey Brisbane!
Epic views from my hotel room
July
More than half way through and domestic travel was the theme… This time, Perth!

Yoga just outside my home- why not?
One of the earlier images got used by City of Melbourne
Where did I end up in WA
Oh in a quaint cabin
With epic foggy views
August/September
Well August and September must’ve been chilled for them to be combined right?
Wrong!
It’s just that the holiday for the year started at the end of August and through September

My my that’s a big building…
From the Burj at night
Dubai has water parks. Who knew?

October
October was the first month in a while without any grand travel plans. To be honest, by this stage, I was happy staying home! Also, there were guests from overseas and lots of local things happening anyway…

Love this angle of the Docklands
Believe it or not – I had never been to boxes til October
Doesn’t the new lighting of Flinders St look good?
Droning
If only I was that sporty..
More droning.
November
After that short break, I was ready to get back to travelling. It began with a hike exploring Werribee Gorge for the first time and then move overseas. This time, it was Hong Kong! It wasn’t a long trip, but it had enough fun things to make it worth while…

Hello there lil fella
Views from the top
Hello again
So many tracks
Typical Aussie bushland

Hello land of the giant neon signs…
Causeway
HongKong streets
Bird’s eye
December…
Well, it’s near the end of December and it has been a hectic work period so I literally haven’t gone anywhere other than work this month. That said, might have a trip coming up…
In any case, I think it’s easy to see that 2018 really has been a great year for travel for me! I’m looking forward to see what 2019 brings.
