You know, after all these years in Melbourne, I have still not managed to go the Night Noodle Markets there. It’s a bit ironic that while I’m at the other end of the country, I managed to sneak off to the markets in Elizabeth Quay, Perth a week or so ago.

Having not been to the Melbourne one, I had no idea what to expect. And since I had recently acquired an Olympus 12-40 f2.8 PRO lens, I thought why not take my E-M5 Mk II and the lens for some street photography action?!

Getting in…

Holy Moly! You know, until that night, I had not seen such a crowd ANYWHERE in Perth! There was a line stretching around the block JUST TO GET IN! Once inside, the lines were huge for each restaurant! Luckily, most had gotten their service down pat and everything moved fairly quickly given the amount of people around.

The food

After lining up, I got straight into my chicken skewers from Hoy Pinoy complete with authentic Filipino marinade. Delicious +++

With my hunger tamed for the moment, I went on the hunt for some more photos. And food. Mainly food.

Man, these were delicious!

The bar was indeed open, though I have to say, the queue was longer for the food!

My favourite

With the lines so long, I generally walked along til I smelled something delicious. This was hard because a LOT of things smelled delicious. But then, stopped at some awesome food I couldn’t pass by…

The Dainty Dowager had an awesome combo meal with almost everything they served that night in one super mega combo meal of deliciousness. So that’s where I went.

Absolutely loved the food from Dainty Dowager

Awesome (but dainty) food

On a side note, given the waiting between one store and the next, I became quite full quite quickly and hence didn’t get the chance to sample more of the food.

In the end

Well, it was quite a fun night walking around taking photos and enjoying a great Asian style meal. Would’ve been much better with my friends around, but alas, that’s the joys of living temporarily in a new place! At least I got my street photography fix after not doing much for a little while. And I’m quite liking this lens.

All I know is that I’ll definitely have to visit the one in Melbourne once I’m back!

PS- I don’t normally do posts like this. Did you enjoy it? Would you like to see more? I’d love to hear your thoughts so leave a comment or drop me a line!
